Drawing the gesture of Cresent Moon Pose
This exercise can be helpful if you want to learn drawing or if you do yoga and want to support your yoga practice with drawing yoga poses.
Cresent Moon Pose, chandrasana, is a standing position, the upper body and arms lift up the legs are closed. One curve, one line of dynamic leads through the whole position. Head, arms, torso and legs differ four parts in the body, the curve is uniting them.
The beauty of the exercise develops by the light and elegant curved movement of the body. I´ve chosen Heinz Grill for the modell of the pose, because in his Cresent Moon Pose, you can see how he lifts up the chest. You can feel very intensely the dynamic in the middle of the spine. He lifts up the chest and centers himself in the middle of the spine and creates the dynamic curve, which expresses a movement upwards. This lifting of the chest is something very useful in yoga.

The Drawing Video of Cresent Moon Pose
1. Exercise to start: draw the curve in one stroke
This simple exercise creates a feeling for the curve as well as for the movement. It is not only a warm up exercise but it creates the feeling for the dynamic.

2. Create the pure gesture of the posture

3. Create different ways of expressing the gesture

You can draw only lines of action or you can try to draw more detailed. It you start with the lines of action, you can better draw the whole pose, because you better feel the dynamic.
